The work The Ref by Ronald Searle was sold in the FootballThe Beautiful Game auction at Bonhams in London in December this year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,152.00 (€ 1,327.06), 44% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ronald Searle achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'Back To School' in June 2011 with an auction result of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 27,657.85).

Die Arbeit The Ref von Ronald Searle wurde im Dezember diesen Jahres in der Auktion FootballThe Beautiful Game bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.152,00 (€ 1.327,06) und damit 44% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ronald Searle erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit 'Back To School' im Juni 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 25.000,00 (€ 27.657,85).
