Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%

This artwork by Ronald Searle achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in March 2018. In the The Political Cartoon Collection of Jeffrey Archer auction, the work ‘Art: The British Public Knowing What It Likes...' (Consequences Of Putting Mr Graham Sutherland’S Latest Portrait On Public Exhibition) sold for GBP 13,750.00 (€ 15,655.13) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Ronald Searle; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot 'Back To School' sold at auction in June 2011 with the realized price of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 27,657.85).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Ronald Searle erzielte im März 2018 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Political Cartoon Collection of Jeffrey Archer wurde die Arbeit ‘Art: The British Public Knowing What It Likes...' (Consequences Of Putting Mr Graham Sutherland’S Latest Portrait On Public Exhibition) für GBP 13.750,00 (€ 15.655,13) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 6.000,00.
