Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Comedy by Ron Gorchov was auctioned at Phillips in New York in November 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 60,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 189,000.00 (€ 167,449.28). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Ron Gorchov; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot General sold at auction in June this year with the realized price of GBP 152,800.00 (€ 177,832.89).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Comedy von Ron Gorchov im November 2021 bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 60.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 189.000,00 (€ 167.449,28) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Ron Gorchov; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit General im Juni diesen Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 152.800,00 (€ 177.832,89).
