In October 2017 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art – Day Sale, which included the work Visiting Family Cand by Rodel Tapaya. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 237,500.00 (€ 26,139.68), 32% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Rodel Tapaya - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Repatriated Bodies, which sold at auction in October 2020 for HKD 693,000.00 (€ 76,755.39).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 32 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2017 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art – Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Visiting Family Cand von Rodel Tapaya zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 237.500,00 (€ 26.139,68) und damit 32% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Rodel Tapaya mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Repatriated Bodies beobachtet, die im Oktober 2020 für HKD 693.000,00 (€ 76.755,39) versteigert wurde.
