Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Temple of Flora: The Queen Flower by Robert John Thornton was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 657.25 (€ 485.49). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert John Thornton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Temple of Flora: six plates in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 16,250.00 (€ 11,848.34).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Temple of Flora: The Queen Flower von Robert John Thornton im Dezember 2004 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 657,25 (€ 485,49) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Robert John Thornton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Temple of Flora: six plates im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 16.250,00 (€ 11.848,34).
