This artwork by Robert John Thornton achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in June 2004. In the THE DORIS DUKE COLLECTION auction, the work Temple of Flora: The Nodding Renealmia sold for USD 3,107.00 (€ 2,551.11) - well above the upper estimate of USD 1,500.00. Admittedly, works by Robert John Thornton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Temple of Flora: six plates in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 16,250.00 (€ 11,848.34).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Robert John Thornton erzielte im Juni 2004 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion THE DORIS DUKE COLLECTION wurde die Arbeit Temple of Flora: The Nodding Renealmia für USD 3.107,00 (€ 2.551,11) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 1.500,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Robert John Thornton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Temple of Flora: six plates im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 16.250,00 (€ 11.848,34).
