Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Pontchartrain (quadriptych) by Robert Colescott was sold in the Modern & Contemporary Prints & Multiples auction at Bonhams in New York in May last year. The price achieved of USD 40,695.00 (€ 37,922.84) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 35,000.00 – 45,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Colescott achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work George Washington Carver Crossing The Delaware: Page From An American History Textbook in May 2021 with an auction result of USD 15,315,900.00 (€ 12,560,193.54).
