Auction result well in line with expectations

In September this year Bonhams in Hong Kong held the auction Robert Colescott1919, which included the work 1919 by Robert Colescott. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000,000.00 – 5,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,448,500.00 (€ 3,258,219.95) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Colescott - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work George Washington Carver Crossing The Delaware: Page From An American History Textbook, which sold at auction in May 2021 for USD 15,315,900.00 (€ 12,560,193.54).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Im September diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in Hong Kong die Auktion Robert Colescott1919 durch, in der auch die Arbeit 1919 von Robert Colescott zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000.000,00 – 5.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.448.500,00 (€ 3.258.219,95) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Robert Colescott mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit George Washington Carver Crossing The Delaware: Page From An American History Textbook beobachtet, die im Mai 2021 für USD 15.315.900,00 (€ 12.560.193,54) versteigert wurde.
