Auction result well in line with expectations
In December this year Phillips in London held the auction New Now, which included the work Miscegenation by Robert Colescott. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 150,000.00 – 250,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 152,400.00 (€ 175,558.96) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Colescott achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work George Washington Carver Crossing The Delaware: Page From An American History Textbook in May 2021 with an auction result of USD 15,315,900.00 (€ 12,560,193.54).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember diesen Jahres führte Phillips in London die Auktion New Now durch, in der auch die Arbeit Miscegenation von Robert Colescott zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 150.000,00 – 250.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 152.400,00 (€ 175.558,96) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Robert Colescott erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit George Washington Carver Crossing The Delaware: Page From An American History Textbook im Mai 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 15.315.900,00 (€ 12.560.193,54).
