The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 423.00 (€ 702.69) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Cleveley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dutch Smalschips And Hookers In A Calm On The Scheldt; And Dutch Smalschips Returning To Their Anchorage On The Scheldt (Both Illustrated) in June 2013 with an auction result of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 14,589.74).
