Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work An armed schooner and frigates in the Channel by Robert Cleveley was auctioned at Christies in London in February 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 300.00 – 400.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 240.00 (€ 355.79). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Cleveley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dutch Smalschips And Hookers In A Calm On The Scheldt; And Dutch Smalschips Returning To Their Anchorage On The Scheldt (Both Illustrated) in June 2013 with an auction result of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 14,589.74).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit An armed schooner and frigates in the Channel von Robert Cleveley im Februar 2007 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 300,00 – 400,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 240,00 (€ 355,79) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Robert Cleveley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Dutch Smalschips And Hookers In A Calm On The Scheldt; And Dutch Smalschips Returning To Their Anchorage On The Scheldt (Both Illustrated) im Juni 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 12.500,00 (€ 14.589,74).
