A top price for Richard Mayhew
When the work Guardian by Richard Mayhew was auctioned at Phillips in New York in November last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 70,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 252,000.00 (€ 244,115.08). This high result makes Guardian the most expensive artwork by Richard Mayhew that we have observed at auctions so far.
