The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 3,500.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at USD 16,730.00 (€ 13,280.94). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Lorenz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Last Farewell in May last year with an auction result of USD 504,000.00 (€ 469,667.32).

Als die Arbeit Profile Of An Indian Chief With Headdress von Richard Lorenz im Dezember 2003 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 3.500,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 16.730,00 (€ 13.280,94) mehr als viermal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Richard Lorenz erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Last Farewell im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 504.000,00 (€ 469.667,32).
