Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Unknown by Richard Crosse was sold in the Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu and Selected Silver auction at Christies in London in March 2006. The price achieved of GBP 480.00 (€ 687.75) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400.00 – 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Crosse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of John Crosse (1721-1776), The Artist'S Father, Circa 1770 in December 2019 with an auction result of GBP 52,500.00 (€ 62,048.86).

Die Arbeit Unknown von Richard Crosse wurde im März 2006 in der Auktion Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu and Selected Silver bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 480,00 (€ 687,75) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Richard Crosse erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait Of John Crosse (1721-1776), The Artist'S Father, Circa 1770 im Dezember 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 52.500,00 (€ 62.048,86).
