Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A young lady, in faded green coat and waistcoat, white cravat, her powdered hair upswept by Richard Crosse was sold in the Important Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction at Christies in London in June 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 812.50 (€ 1,027.03) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Crosse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of John Crosse (1721-1776), The Artist'S Father, Circa 1770 in December 2019 with an auction result of GBP 52,500.00 (€ 62,048.86).
