Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Clowns by Reynolds Beal was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 13,750.00 (€ 9,670.16). Admittedly, works by Reynolds Beal have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Marblehead Races in December 2004 with an auction result of USD 71,700.00 (€ 52,962.03).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Clowns von Reynolds Beal im September 2007 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 13.750,00 (€ 9.670,16) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Reynolds Beal auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Marblehead Races im Dezember 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 71.700,00 (€ 52.962,03).
