This artwork by Raymond Duchamp-Villon achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November 2000. In the Impressionist and Modern Art (Day Sale) auction, the work Baudelaire sold for USD 99,500.00 (€ 114,446.74) - well above the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Raymond Duchamp-Villon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Femme assisse in May 2002 with an auction result of USD 1,439,500.00 (€ 1,541,385.59).
