Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Made in Britain, which included the work You Handsome Devil! by Ray Richardson. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,250.00 (€ 5,956.19) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Ray Richardson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ostenders in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 26,900.00 (€ 37,666.96).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2017 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Made in Britain durch, in der auch die Arbeit You Handsome Devil! von Ray Richardson zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 5.250,00 (€ 5.956,19) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ray Richardson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ostenders im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 26.900,00 (€ 37.666,96).
