In March 2012 Christies in New York held the auction Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture Including the Collection of Dr. Mark and Irene Kauffman, which included the work S.S. Del Sud by Ralston Crawford. The »bidding war« ended at USD 68,500.00 (€ 51,372.43), 37% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ralston Crawford achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Flour Mill #2 in December 2005 with an auction result of USD 654,400.00 (€ 552,609.36).

Im März 2012 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture Including the Collection of Dr. Mark and Irene Kauffman durch, in der auch die Arbeit S.S. Del Sud von Ralston Crawford zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 68.500,00 (€ 51.372,43) und damit 37% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ralston Crawford erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Flour Mill #2 im Dezember 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 654.400,00 (€ 552.609,36).
