Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Roof, 31 West 11Th Street by Ralston Crawford was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 399,000.00 (€ 357,879.63). Other works by Ralston Crawford have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in December 2005 by the work Flour Mill #2 at USD 654,400.00 (€ 552,609.36).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Roof, 31 West 11Th Street von Ralston Crawford im Mai 2019 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 400.000,00 – 600.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 399.000,00 (€ 357.879,63) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Ralston Crawford wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Dezember 2005 die Arbeit Flour Mill #2 mit USD 654.400,00 (€ 552.609,36).
