Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (Boy Holding Shard Of Glass Before Face), 1966 by Ralph Eugene Meatyard was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,875.00 (€ 1,609.86). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ralph Eugene Meatyard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled, (Flag - derelict interior with Christopher), 1960 in April 2007 with an auction result of USD 33,600.00 (€ 24,597.36).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled (Boy Holding Shard Of Glass Before Face), 1966 von Ralph Eugene Meatyard im Oktober 2020 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.875,00 (€ 1.609,86) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ralph Eugene Meatyard erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled, (Flag - derelict interior with Christopher), 1960 im April 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 33.600,00 (€ 24.597,36).
