Auction result well in line with expectations
In April last year Christies in New York held the auction Photographs from the Richard Gere Collection, which included the work No. 6 Usufructuary, 1960 by Ralph Eugene Meatyard. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,024.00 (€ 2,869.89) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Ralph Eugene Meatyard have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled, (Flag - derelict interior with Christopher), 1960 in April 2007 with an auction result of USD 33,600.00 (€ 24,597.36).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Photographs from the Richard Gere Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit No. 6 Usufructuary, 1960 von Ralph Eugene Meatyard zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.024,00 (€ 2.869,89) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ralph Eugene Meatyard auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled, (Flag - derelict interior with Christopher), 1960 im April 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 33.600,00 (€ 24.597,36).
