Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2006 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art, which included the work The Eruption of Mt. Merapi At Night, Java by Raden Saleh. Here, the upper estimate of HKD 2,000,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for HKD 2,136,000.00 (€ 207,140.94). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Raden Saleh - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Wounded Lion, which sold at auction in November 2010 for HKD 6,620,000.00 (€ 654,077.94).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im November 2006 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Eruption of Mt. Merapi At Night, Java von Raden Saleh zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von HKD 2.000.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für HKD 2.136.000,00 (€ 207.140,94) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Raden Saleh mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Wounded Lion beobachtet, die im November 2010 für HKD 6.620.000,00 (€ 654.077,94) versteigert wurde.
