This artwork by Rachel Ruysch achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2020. In the Old Masters Evening Sale auction, the work Tulips, rose, honeysuckle, apple blossom, poppies and other flowers in a glass vase, with a butterfly, on a marble ledge sold for GBP 412,500.00 (€ 460,799.26) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 150,000.00. Admittedly, works by Rachel Ruysch have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Still Life Of Roses, Tulips, A Sunflower And Other Flowers In A Glass Vase With A Bee, Butterfly And Other Insects Upon A Marble Ledge in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 1,650,500.00 (€ 1,885,983.93).
