Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Edward Solly, half length, in a blue coat and cream waistcoat, standing beside a table by Pompeo Batoni was auctioned at Bonhams in London in July last year. The price achieved of GBP 138,900.00 (€ 165,871.27) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 120,000.00 – 180,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pompeo Batoni achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Susanna And The Elders in February 2013 with an auction result of USD 11,394,500.00 (€ 8,712,057.50).
