In February 2013 Sothebys in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture, which included the work Susanna And The Elders by Pompeo Batoni. The »bidding war« ended at USD 11,394,500.00 (€ 8,712,057.50), 27% above the upper estimate. With this result, Susanna And The Elders is even the most expensive work of art by Pompeo Batoni that we have observed at auctions so far.
