Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait Of Titian, Half-Length by Pietro della Vecchia was auctioned at Sothebys in London in April 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 15,000.00 (€ 19,174.46). Admittedly, works by Pietro della Vecchia have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Man Drawing A Sword in February 2013 with an auction result of USD 182,500.00 (€ 139,536.66).
