Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Hyena Men of Abuja, Lagos, Nigeria from The Hyena and Other Men by Pieter Hugo was sold in the Photographs auction at Phillips in London in May 2021. The price achieved of GBP 25,200.00 (€ 29,320.78) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pieter Hugo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mummy Ahmadu and Mallam Mantari Lamal with Mainasara, Abuja, Nigeria, 2005, which sold at auction in May 2018 for GBP 56,250.00 (€ 64,053.66).
