Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Hyena Men of Abuja, Lagos, Nigeria from The Hyena and Other Men by Pieter Hugo was sold in the Photographs auction at Phillips in London in May 2021. The price achieved of GBP 25,200.00 (€ 29,320.78) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pieter Hugo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mummy Ahmadu and Mallam Mantari Lamal with Mainasara, Abuja, Nigeria, 2005, which sold at auction in May 2018 for GBP 56,250.00 (€ 64,053.66).

Die Arbeit The Hyena Men of Abuja, Lagos, Nigeria from The Hyena and Other Men von Pieter Hugo wurde im Mai 2021 in der Auktion Photographs bei Phillips in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 25.200,00 (€ 29.320,78) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Pieter Hugo mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mummy Ahmadu and Mallam Mantari Lamal with Mainasara, Abuja, Nigeria, 2005 beobachtet, die im Mai 2018 für GBP 56.250,00 (€ 64.053,66) versteigert wurde.
