Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2018 Sothebys in New York held the auction Fine Old Master & 19th Century European Art, which included the work Portrait Of A Woman, Bust Length by Pieter de Grebber. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,625.00 (€ 8,701.17) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pieter de Grebber achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a young man in Persian dress in January 2005 with an auction result of USD 430,400.00 (€ 329,833.70).
