Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In April 2008 Christies in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings Part I And Part II, which included the work The Virgin And Child With Saint John by Pieter Coecke van Aelst. Here, the upper estimate of USD 100,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 109,000.00 (€ 70,015.42). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pieter Coecke van Aelst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A triptych: The Nativity, The Adoration of the Magi, The Presentation in the Temple in January 2021 with an auction result of USD 3,166,000.00 (€ 2,608,982.28).

Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 100.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 109.000,00 (€ 70.015,42) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Pieter Coecke van Aelst erzielen.
