The work A Roemer, Tobacco, A Chicken, A Herring And A Partially Peeled Lemon On A Pewter Plate, With Shrimp In A Porcelain Bowl, And Other Fruit, On A Partially Draped Table by Pieter Claesz was sold in the Old Masters Day Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2019. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 81,250.00 (€ 96,027.99), 63% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pieter Claesz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Still Life Of Lemons And Olives, Pewter Plates, A Roemer And A Façon-De-Venise Wine Glass On A Ledge in July 2016 with an auction result of GBP 1,805,000.00 (€ 2,144,730.48).
