In July 2016 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Evening Sale, which included the work Still Life Of Lemons And Olives, Pewter Plates, A Roemer And A Façon-De-Venise Wine Glass On A Ledge by Pieter Claesz. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,800,000.00 – 2,500,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,805,000.00 (€ 2,144,730.48) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Still Life Of Lemons And Olives, Pewter Plates, A Roemer And A Façon-De-Venise Wine Glass On A Ledge is the most expensive artwork by Pieter Claesz that we have observed at auctions so far.
