The auction ended at the price of USD 500,000.00 (€ 429,295.10), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter Brueghel II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Battle between Carnival and Lent in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 6,873,250.00 (€ 8,231,687.76).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit The Wedding Feast von Peter Brueghel II kam im Oktober 2020 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 500.000,00 (€ 429.295,10) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 300.000,00 – 500.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Peter Brueghel II erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Battle between Carnival and Lent im Dezember 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.873.250,00 (€ 8.231.687,76).
