This artwork by Peter Brueghel II achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July this year. In the Old Masters Part I auction, the work Allegory of Spring sold for GBP 1,734,000.00 (€ 2,023,052.45) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800,000.00. Admittedly, works by Peter Brueghel II have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Battle between Carnival and Lent in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 6,873,250.00 (€ 8,231,687.76).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Peter Brueghel II erzielte im Juli diesen Jahres bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Masters Part I wurde die Arbeit Allegory of Spring für GBP 1.734.000,00 (€ 2.023.052,45) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 800.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Peter Brueghel II auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Battle between Carnival and Lent im Dezember 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.873.250,00 (€ 8.231.687,76).
