This artwork by Peter Brueghel II achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May this year. In the Old Masters auction, the work The Drunkard pushed into the Pigsty sold for USD 144,900.00 (€ 136,005.26) - well above the upper estimate of USD 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter Brueghel II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Battle between Carnival and Lent in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 6,873,250.00 (€ 8,231,687.76).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 81 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Peter Brueghel II erzielte im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Masters wurde die Arbeit The Drunkard pushed into the Pigsty für USD 144.900,00 (€ 136.005,26) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 80.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Peter Brueghel II erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Battle between Carnival and Lent im Dezember 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.873.250,00 (€ 8.231.687,76).
