Auction result misses estimated price range
In May last year a collector was able to acquire the work Barn doors of a Brabant farm building by Piet Mondrian for SEK 700,000.00 (€ 66,797.13). This price was achieved in the auction Modern Art + Design at Bukowski in Stockholm and was even below the estimate range of SEK 800,000.00 – 1,000,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Piet Mondrian achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Composition No. III, with Red, Blue, Yellow, and Black, 1929 in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 50,565,000.00 (€ 45,993,269.06).
