Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Incendie Dans Un Port Aux Environs De Naples by Pierre-Jacques Volaire was auctioned at Artcurial in November 2014. The price achieved of EUR 101,000.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pierre-Jacques Volaire - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Vesuvius erupting at night seen from the foothills, with elegant onlookers, a view of the Bay of Naples beyond, which sold at auction in July 2005 for GBP 142,400.00 (€ 206,549.86).
