Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2014 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master Paintings, which included the work A Nocturnal Mediterranean Coastal Scene, With Vesuvius In The Background by Pierre-Jacques Volaire. The price achieved of USD 185,000.00 (€ 137,037.04) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 150,000.00 – 200,000.00. Other works by Pierre-Jacques Volaire have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in July 2005 the work Vesuvius erupting at night seen from the foothills, with elegant onlookers, a view of the Bay of Naples beyond was auctioned for GBP 142,400.00 (€ 206,549.86).

Im Januar 2014 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Old Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Nocturnal Mediterranean Coastal Scene, With Vesuvius In The Background von Pierre-Jacques Volaire zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 185.000,00 (€ 137.037,04) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 150.000,00 – 200.000,00 angegeben worden.
