Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2021 Bonhams in London held the auction British and European Art, which included the work A midsummer day by Philip Wilson Steer. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,187.50 (€ 3,744.49) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Philip Wilson Steer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tired Out in May 2014 with an auction result of GBP 674,500.00 (€ 828,982.26).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2021 führte Bonhams in London die Auktion British and European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A midsummer day von Philip Wilson Steer zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.187,50 (€ 3.744,49) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Philip Wilson Steer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tired Out im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 674.500,00 (€ 828.982,26).
