The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,008.00 (€ 1,195.10), 26% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Philip Wilson Steer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tired Out in May 2014 with an auction result of GBP 674,500.00 (€ 828,982.26).

Die Arbeit Dover Harbour, Kent von Philip Wilson Steer wurde im März letzten Jahres in der Auktion Dramas of Light and Land: The Martyn Gregory Collection of British Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.008,00 (€ 1.195,10) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Philip Wilson Steer erzielen.
