Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2020 a collector was able to acquire the work Preparing For The Ball by Petrus van Schendel for USD 32,500.00 (€ 29,297.76). This price was achieved in the auction 19th Century European Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Petrus van Schendel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dutch the Market Place, Rotterdam in May 2015 with an auction result of GBP 449,000.00 (€ 624,287.25).
