In October 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction The European Art Sale, which included the work Fish Market at the Sint-Jacobskerk by Petrus van Schendel. The »bidding war« ended at USD 69,300.00 (€ 59,989.61), 39% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Petrus van Schendel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dutch the Market Place, Rotterdam in May 2015 with an auction result of GBP 449,000.00 (€ 624,287.25).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 39 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion The European Art Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Fish Market at the Sint-Jacobskerk von Petrus van Schendel zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 69.300,00 (€ 59.989,61) und damit 39% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Petrus van Schendel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Dutch the Market Place, Rotterdam im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 449.000,00 (€ 624.287,25).
