Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Dutch The Candlelit Market by Petrus van Schendel was sold in the 19th Century European Art auction at Sothebys in New York in February 2019. The price achieved of USD 175,000.00 (€ 153,792.07) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 150,000.00 – 200,000.00. Admittedly, works by Petrus van Schendel have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Dutch the Market Place, Rotterdam in May 2015 with an auction result of GBP 449,000.00 (€ 624,287.25).
