Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2012 Sothebys in London held the auction Important Russian Art, which included the work A View Of Mount Karaugom, Caucasus by Petr Vereshchagin. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 120,000.00 – 180,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 133,250.00 (€ 166,023.64) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Petr Vereshchagin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work View Of Palace Square, St Petersburg, which sold at auction in June 2013 for GBP 506,500.00 (€ 591,176.21).
