Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Peter Tillemans achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2005. In the Old Master Pictures & Drawings auction, the work A racehorse in profile to the left sold for GBP 420.00 (€ 609.61) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 150.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter Tillemans achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A panoramic view of Chatsworth House and Park, with mares and foals in the foreground in July 2012 with an auction result of GBP 265,250.00 (€ 337,857.21).
