Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Peter Hujar achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November last year. In the Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Divine sold for USD 69,300.00 (€ 67,131.65) - well above the upper estimate of USD 25,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Peter Hujar - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work David Wojnarowicz Reclining (II), which sold at auction in October 2021 for USD 157,500.00 (€ 136,340.03).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Peter Hujar erzielte im November letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Divine für USD 69.300,00 (€ 67.131,65) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 25.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Peter Hujar mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit David Wojnarowicz Reclining (II) beobachtet, die im Oktober 2021 für USD 157.500,00 (€ 136.340,03) versteigert wurde.
