Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Peter Doig achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in June 2007. In the Contemporary Art, Day auction, the work Untitled (100 Years Ago) sold for GBP 42,000.00 (€ 62,325.89) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter Doig achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Swamped in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 39,862,500.00 (€ 35,317,179.06).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Peter Doig erzielte im Juni 2007 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art, Day wurde die Arbeit Untitled (100 Years Ago) für GBP 42.000,00 (€ 62.325,89) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Peter Doig erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Swamped im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 39.862.500,00 (€ 35.317.179,06).
