Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2005 Christies in New York held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art (Evening Sale), which included the work Briey (Concrete Cabin) by Peter Doig. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 600,000.00 – 800,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 632,000.00 (€ 511,782.33) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter Doig achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Swamped in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 39,862,500.00 (€ 35,317,179.06).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2005 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art (Evening Sale) durch, in der auch die Arbeit Briey (Concrete Cabin) von Peter Doig zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 600.000,00 – 800.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 632.000,00 (€ 511.782,33) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Peter Doig erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Swamped im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 39.862.500,00 (€ 35.317.179,06).
