Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2007 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art Including Selected International Works, which included the work Australian Spring by Penleigh Boyd. The price achieved of AUD 18,000.00 (€ 10,763.58) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Penleigh Boyd achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Ghost Gum At Kangaroo Flat in August 2007 with an auction result of AUD 264,000.00 (€ 157,865.85).
