This artwork by Penny Siopis achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in November 2016. In the Day Auction auction, the work South African Postcard Ii sold for GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,799.02) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Penny Siopis - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Heat and Dust, which sold at auction in October last year for GBP 30,240.00 (€ 35,229.27).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 100 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Penny Siopis erzielte im November 2016 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Day Auction wurde die Arbeit South African Postcard Ii für GBP 10.000,00 (€ 11.799,02) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 5.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Penny Siopis mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Heat and Dust beobachtet, die im Oktober letzten Jahres für GBP 30.240,00 (€ 35.229,27) versteigert wurde.
